Cabela’s set to open new Sun Prairie store Thursday

Cabela’s will be celebrating the grand opening of its new Sun Prairie store Thursday, followed by a weekend full of events.

Opening day will start at 8 a.m. with entertainment, giveaways, trivia games and a live performance by country artist Tom Jackson, according to a release. An opening ceremony hosted by Cabela’s executives will start at 9:45 a.m. and will include a ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee.

The grand-opening festivities will continue throughout the weekend with giveaways, special guests and family activities, according to the release. On Thursday, the first 500 customers in line will receive a gift card valued up to $500. The first 50 customers on Friday will get a Cabela’s utility bag. The first 50 on Saturday will get a Cabela’s grand opening hat. And the first 50 on Sunday will get a Cabela’s tripod stool.

The 90,000-square-foot store is located at 1350 Cabela Drive in the Prairie Lakes Shopping center off Highway 151. Cabela’s has hired more than 225 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, most of them coming from Sun Prairie and the surrounding area, according to the release.
