Business Leaders, Volunteers Deliver Meals To Those In Need
The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County stepped up to feed nearly 400 hungry people this Thanksgiving Day.
Leadgers teamed up with area business owners and CEOs to purchase and prepare a Thanksgiving feast at the club’s Allied Drive location. The event, free to anyone, included dinner, entertainment, kids activities, and free family portraits.
Before the big meal, business leaders visited several homes in the Allied Drive area, to personally deliver Thanksgiving meals to needy families.
“It’s surreal. It’s amazing,” said Monique Johnson-Crowder, whose family of 11 got a meal delivered to their home. “We always know Thanksgiving, be thankful and share, but this is above and beyond. I don’t even know what I did to deserve something like this. I appreciate it.”
Metcalfe’s Sentry donated some of the food and preparation for the delivered meals, including some of the food for the commumity meal. President of Metcalfe’s, Kevin Metcalfe, said he was humbled to help make the holiday brighter for families.
“We had the capability of doing that during the holidays, to certainly help them out,” Metcalfe said. “We’re happy to be here and really proud to be part of the Boys and Girls Club.”
This is the first year of the event.
