Bus passengers injured in I-90 crash, officials say

Two people were injured in a bus crash that closed Interstate 90 eastbound for around two hours Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Traffic officials said all lanes on eastbound Interstate 90 near Wisconsin Dells were blocked due to a Jefferson Lines bus hitting a tree.

The call came in at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday reporting a crash on I-90 eastbound near mile marker 112, officials said.

The bus left the road and struck a tree in the right ditch, authorities said. The driver, a 42-year-old man from Minneapolis was pinned and another passenger was ejected from the bus.

There were no paying passengers on the bus because it was being used for training purposes, according to a Jefferson Lines spokesperson. There was one mentor driver and two training drivers on board at the time of the crash.

A trainee was driving when the bus ran off the road, the spokesperson said. The bus was on its way from Minneapolis to Madison, and then turning around and heading back to Minneapolis.

According to the spokesperson, the trainee driver was taken by helicopter to Madison with a broken leg and the two other passengers, a 58-yaerold man from Apple Valley, Minn., and a 77-year-old man from Roseville, Minn., had minor injuries.
