Bruesewitz back from Europe for summer

Former Badger Mike Bruesewitz has had quite a basketball journey since his Wisconsin career.

Bruesewitz has played professionally in Israel, Slovenia and Malta, and won his first championship as a professional recently in Malta.

“I’ve lived in three very different countries – three different cultures,” Bruesewitz said. “I’ve learned a ton about myself as well as about the world a little bit, I feel. It’s been an amazing ride.. Basketball’s brought me around the world – it’s been a really nice study abroad program that I’m really, really enjoying.”

Bruesewitz is back in the Midwest for the summer now and will be leading four youth camps in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

He wants to apply what he’s learned in his experiences to keep the game fun.

“Too much pressure is put on kids these days to perform on the highest level and winning on all costs,” Bruesewitz added. “I think we need to enjoy the game – enjoy the game of basketball. For me it pays the bills and I get to see the world and it’s amazing – but it’s still a game.. It still has to be fun – and if it’s fun, it’s passionate and that means you’re going to want to work on it more.”

The Wisconsin camps will be at SEA in Stoughton. For more information, visit Bruesewitz’ website, bruexperience.com.
