Bruce Roy Hutchison

Bruce Roy Hutchison

Bruce Roy Hutchison, 74, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, following an extended illness. Bruce was born and raised in Stratford Connecticut, the son of Clifford and Marion (Lindstrom) Hutchison. He attended Stratford High School, the University of Connecticut and the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a Master’s degree in Food Science. He spent most of his adult life living in Madison, selling dairy and food processing equipment. Bruce spent part of every summer on the family farm in NH. This led to a passion for the farmlands of Wisconsin, collecting artworks of country farms and model tractors and farm equipment, and regularly attending agricultural fairs. He also loved trains. As a teenager Bruce learned sailboat racing on Long Island Sound and carried that interest to Madison, becoming an active member of the Hoofers Sailing Club, racing in various scow-class boats. An avid fan of the University of Wisconsin-Madison football and hockey, he also closely followed the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Bruce was predeceased by his parents. He leaves his brothers Hugh Hutchison and his wife Nancy of Devon, PA; Keith Hutchison and his wife Lucy Rowe of Blue Hill, ME; his sister Sara Hutchison Goetz and her husband Rick of Bainbridge Island, WA; several nieces and nephews; and multiple cousins. He will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at the family farm in Winchester, NH, at a later date. The family asks that those wishing to remember Bruce in some way make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly who were enormously helpful and supportive of Bruce in his final years.
