Brothers involved in apparent murder-suicide

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said two brothers are dead from an apparent murder-suicide that happened late Sunday at a residence in the Town of Garden Valley.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to W12594 E. Town House Road on Sunday at about 11:45 p.m. The caller said one of the victims was possibly dead and the other was still alive, but suffering from a critical gunshot wound.

The Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that 24-year-old Tyler Renard was not able to survive his injury and was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate Cory Renard, 28, most likely died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office said Tyler Renard also died from a gunshot wound, but it is unlikely that it was self-inflicted.  Investigators said the facts and circumstances show that this is likely to be a murder-suicide.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
