Brian J. Schmitt

EAST BRISTOL—Brian J. Schmitt age 42, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at home.
He was born on May 14, 1969 in Columbus to Robert and Florence (Miller) Schmitt.
Brian was a 1987 graduate of Sun Prairie High School and completed an agriculture short course with the UW-Extension. He owned and operated his family’s dairy farm in East Bristol. Brian was a loving father to his children, attending many of their events and activities. He had a knack for making things work and enjoyed each challenge.
Survivors include his fiancée, Jennifer Loper of Plain; five children, Alex, Mena and Evan Schmitt all of Sun Prairie, Jayden and Hudson Loper-Schmitt both of Plain; his mother, Florence Schmitt of E. Bristol; two sisters, Suzanne (John Barian) Schmitt and Kristine Schmitt; four brothers, Robert, Kim, Larry and Peter; a niece, Autumn Jesberger; a nephew, Hunter Jesberger; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Columbus. Rev. Carol Hermann will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, East Bristol. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home, and from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church on Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or the Columbia County 4-H Horse Project. My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.
