Brewers pound Price, Rays, 5-0

Yovani Gallardo pitched seven shutout innings and Martin Maldonado drove in four runs as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Gallardo (6-5) allowed just three hits and one walk, striking out five.

The Brewers offense finally came alive against Rays starter David Price, who’s been the subject of trade rumors the last few weeks.

Price (11-8) allowed seven hits, four runs, three earned, he walked two and struck out six.

Catcher Martin Maldonado got a rare start and made the most of it getting three hits and four RBI.

Aramis Ramirez and Khris Davis also added two hits apiece for the Brewers.

The Rays loaded the bases in the ninth off Jeremy Jeffress and Zach Duke, but Francisco Rodriguez struck out Yunel Escobar for his 31st save of the season.
