Brewers losing streak hits seven

The Chicago Cubs jumped on Yovani Gallardo for seven runs in the first five innings to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 at Wrigley Field Tuesaday night.

It was the Brewers’ seventh straight loss.

The Cubs scored four times off Gallardo (8-8) in the first inning. Luis Valbuena and Jorge Soler had run scoring singles for Chicago.

In the fifth, the Cubs scored three more. Wellington Castillo had an RBI double and Arismeny Alcantara hit a two-run homer off Gallardo to make it 7-1.

The Brewers only run scored in the third when Ryan Braun drove in Scooter Gennett with a single.

Jake Arietta (8-5) allowed just one run in six innings to get the victory for Chicago.
