Brewers down Blue Jays, 6-1

Mike Fiers allowed two hits and one run over seven innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-1 at Miller Park Tuesday night.

Fiers (3-1)  walked only one batter and struck out six, lowering his earned run average for the season to 1.29.

The Brewers hit seven doubles in the game, including two by Jonathan Lucroy who now has a National League leading 42 on the season. Lucroy is trying to be the first catcher to lead the league in doubles in the modern era (since 1900).

Lucroy, Aramis Ramirez and Khris Davis had two hits apiece for the Brewers.

J.A. Happ (8-8) started and took the loss for the Blue Jays as he lasted only three-and-a-third innings giving up six hits, four earned runs and two walks.

The Brewers and Blue Jays close out their interleague series Wednesday afternoon with a 1:10 pm CT start at Miller Park.
