MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich has tested positive for COVID-19, according to multiple reports.

The positive test was announced Tuesday afternoon by Brewers general manager David Stearns.

Yelich was placed on the COVID-related injury list. Teammate Jace Peterson was also placed on the COVID IL due to contact tracing.

The former National League MVP was experiencing mild symptoms, according to reports.

Yelich played a role in the Brewers’ ‘Crush COVID’ PSA earlier this season, urging fans to get vaccinated. He received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, along with the rest of his teammates who chose to get the vaccine.

All-Star pitcher Corbin Burnes also tested positive for COVID in May.

The 29-year-old slugger won the Most Valuable Player award in 2018 and was hitting .235 this season with six home runs and 28 RBI.
