Brat Fest misses record on rainy weather

Rainy weather might have kept Brat Fest from breaking brat sales records this weekend, according to organizer Tim Metcalfe.

Total sales for this year’s event topped 159,608 brats, which is 6,262 short of last year’s count. A record was broken for Take Your Brat To Work Day, when 20,466 brats were sold.

“If only the weather had held, I have no doubt we would have had a record year,” Metcalfe said.

Brat Fest raised an estimated $125,000 with volunteers from 100 Dane County charities. The event has raised more than $1.5 million in its 33-year run.
