Boy dies following pit bull attack

Police reports reveal details of fatal pit bull attack

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office said a 14-month-old boy has died after being attacked by two pit bulls Wednesday.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call from a 30-year-old woman early Wednesday afternoon saying she and a 14-month-old boy were being attacked by pit bulls.

The caller said she and the boy were being attacked by two pit bulls she owns in the Town of Walworth. The animals were removed and euthanized.

The woman said both she and the boy suffered multiple injuries.

Sheriff’s officials said the young boy was initially transported by ambulance to Mercy-Walworth Medical Center and Hospital and then flown to a Milwaukee-area hospital with critical injuries.

The Walworth County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the boy succumbed to his injuries and died at a Milwaukee-area hospital Wednesday afternoon.

People who knew the boy, identified as Daxton Borchard, said they are devastated.

“He is adorable, absolutely adorable. It’s just real sad,” said Nicole Jennison, who used to babysit the toddler.

“He had the biggest eyes, a great smile. He was a great little boy,” said family friend Valerie Brylow.

Capt. Dana Nigbor said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, and there likely won’t be charges in this case.

The Sheriff’s Office said it’s continuing to investigate.
