Boy, 2, found unconscious in Vilas Co. pool dies

Children were playing unsupervised in pool

LAND O' LAKES, Wis. — A 2-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a Vilas County pool has died.

The sheriff’s office said someone called 911 on Friday evening to report an unresponsive boy in a pool at a Land O’ Lakes home.

Emergency responders pulled the boy from the water and began performing CPR. The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation found that several children had been playing unsupervised in the pool. One of the children noticed the 2-year-old wasn’t responding.

The boy’s name hasn’t been released.
