Body Pulled From River In Wisconsin Dells

Wisconsin Dells police are trying to identify a body pulled from the Wisconsin River.

Alliant Energy employees reported a possible body up against a hydroelectric dam just before 2 p.m. Wednesday. Officers confirmed it was a body and were able to recover it with help from the Kilbourn Fire Department.

The body was turned over to the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The body is described as that of an “average size” man with black hair, according to a Wisconsin Dells Police Department news release.

Police said the man was in his early 20s, and it appears the body had been there for more than at least a day or two.

Authorities said they’re reaching out to see if the man had been reported missing.

“If the community could provide anything for us, that would be wonderful. We don’t have a lot of information to go on, or give. If there’s been anyone missing for awhile, and they’ve been in the Wisconsin Dells area, we would certainly like to know about that,” said Lt. Perry Mayer, of the Wisconsin Dells Police Department.

The county’s medical examiner will do an autopsy before the weekend.

Anyone with information about any missing persons with a similar description or circumstances of a similar nature is urged to call the Wisconsin Dells police at 608-253-1611.
