Body of 2nd man recovered from Lake Michigan

Men swept into Lake Michigan by winds, high waves

Rescue workers have recovered the body of a second Sheboygan man who was swept into Lake Michigan by winds and high waves.

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department said the body of 21-year-old David Diener was found about 12:20 p.m. Sunday.

Searchers recovered the body of 37-year-old Kurt K. Netzer on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say the two men and a woman were swept off a breakwall and into the water Friday. The woman was rescued.

Diener’s sister, Kayla Ortigoza, told The Sheboygan Press that he and Netzer went out to retrieve fishing gear that Diener had lost the night before, but conditions were worse than they thought.

She said Diener has a 1-year-old son. She said the family is devastated.
