A central Wisconsin community will continue to operate its police department.

The Rothschild Village Board rejected a plan to merge with the Everest Metro Police Department, which serves Schofield and Weston. WAOW-TV reported more than 100 citizens attended a meeting Monday night in Rothschild.

Jerry Goetsch was among many opposing the merger. Goetsch says Rothschild has a good police department, so why fix something that isn’t broken?
