Board of Regents looks to encourage non-academic applicants

The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents adopted a new hiring plan Thursday, aiming to attract more candidates from the private sector among other reforms.

Under the new plan, chancellors and vice-chancellors are required to encourage applications from non-academic personnel, while reminding applicants that a Ph.D. or similar terminal degree is not a job requirement.

State schools superintendent Tony Evers was the only dissenting vote on the proposal.
