Black Hawk earns Division 7 title
22-15 over Edgar
Madison — Camp Randall Stadium – The Black Hawk Warriors capped a perfect season with a 22-15 win over Edgar in the WIAA Division 7 state championship game. It’s the second championship in school history. The other came in 2013.
Leading 15-14 with 10:11 to go in the third quarter, Edgar tried a fake punt on 4th and 7 from the Black Hawk 38 yard line. Quarterback Karson Butt took a direct snap, but he was stopped after a gain of two.
The Warriors took over on downs and put together a scoring drive that took 9:59 seconds off the clock. Quarterback Kyle Lovelace punched in what would be the deciding score on a two-yard touchdown run.
Black Hawk outgained the Wildcats 259 to 96 on the ground and controlled the clock in the fourth quarter to seal the win. The Warriors (12-0) also recovered three of Edgar’s five fumbles.
