Bike rodeo will feature escorted ride to children’s museum

Children will learn about bike safety and the rules of the road at a free bike rodeo Aug. 26, Madison police said.

Middle school-aged children will have the opportunity to participate in a fun group ride to visit the Madison Children’s Museum during the event, according to a release.

The event is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. in the back parking lot of St. Bernard Church off of Atwood Avenue and Corry Court, officials said. The rodeo will feature a 3:30 p.m. escorted bike ride to the Madison Children’s Museum.

Participants will learn important lessons that will keep them safe then they bike to school or around their neighborhood, according to the release. The afternoon rodeo will also feature equipment and helmet checks and riding tips.

Organizers said anyone interested in attending should RSVP, but walk-ups will be welcomed. To RSVP, contact madisonbikerodeo@gmail.com.

All youth bikers must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate, according to the release. In the event of severe weather, the rodeo will be canceled.
