Betty Lee Treganza-Panek

Betty Lee Treganza-Panek (nee Havey) of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston, WI, at the age of 88.
Betty was born on March 22, 1927 to Fred and Jeanette Havey. She graduated from Mauston High School in 1944 and, at the end of WWII, she worked at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Baraboo, WI for a time. She attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison from 1944-1946. Betty married John Treganza on August 31, 1946 in Lyndon Station and John continued going to school in Madison while she worked as a dental assistant. To this marriage 3 children were born, Christine (Donald) Carter, Jeffery Treganza and Lisa Ruskosky. John and Betty were later divorced in 1979. Betty worked at Fort McCoy in Sparta, WI, from 1964 until her retirement in 1984. On March 26th, 1982 she married Chester Panek and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1984. Betty moved to Lyndon Station in 1987 and became the Village Clerk – Treasurer in 1989 until 2006. Betty is fondly remembered for her sense of style, wit and wisdom. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Christine (Donald) Carter, Lyndon Station, Jeffrey Treganza, Mauston, and Lisa Ruskosky, Baraboo, WI; grandchildren, Jody (Derrick) Gwin, Fountain, CO, Jason (Denise) Ruskosky, Sauk City, WI, Christopher (Meghan) Coon, Madison, WI, Chelsea (Joshua) Burns, Fox Lake, WI; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Anestasia Gwin and Ethan, Emmitt and Wyatt Coon. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Daniel Havey and his wife Kate and her grandson, Aaron Ficken.
There will be a wake for Betty on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and again on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 until 10:45 p.m. with procession to the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lyndon Station. Betty will be interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery directly following the service.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Hinton, the nurses and their assistants and all the staff at Crestview Nursing Home in New Lisbon for the wonderful care she received the last few years. Also, the staff at Mile Bluff Medical Center for making her last few days comfortable.
