‘Bess the Book Bus’ comes to Madison

MADISON, Wis. — “Bess the Book Bus” made her way around Madison today.
It’s a national program based out of Florida that brings books to underprivileged children in low-income communities.
The bus was parked at Sandburg Elementary School this morning. Children got to select books to keep, participate in special activities and meet Miss Wisconsin.
“It allows them a chance to escape from day to day and the ownership and ability to enjoy a book over and over is priceless,” said Carrie Costree from Madison Reading Project.
Thie book bus is part of a fundraiser and monthlong book drive for the Madison Reading Project.
