Beltline lane reopens following repairs on overpass

Inspectors called to Fish Hatchery Road overpass

Bridge inspectors were called to the Fish Hatchery Road overpass Thursday after work being done on the bridge resulted in concrete dislodging from underneath the structure.

Crews were working on the road Thursday, which is above the Beltline. There were reports that concrete was falling from the overpass onto the eastbound lanes of the Beltline.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the traffic lane on the Beltline was closed immediately.

The DOT said work was performed underneath the bridge to prevent any reoccurrences, and the Beltline lane and ramp were reopened to traffic about 3 p.m. Thursday.

DOT officials said the Fish Hatchery bridge has been inspected and is structurally sound.

Traffic will remain on the bridge with lane limits due to the construction project, officials said.
