Beloit police offering free rides on New Year’s Eve

The Beloit Police Department is trying to do its part to prevent drunken driving on one of the biggest party nights of the year, according to a post on its Facebook page.

Officers will be providing free rides to and from anywhere within the city of Beloit, the post says. To arrange a ride, call the Beloit Police Department’s non-emergency number: 608-757-2244.

In addition, the department is also adding extra patrols on nearby highways to cut down on drunken driving, according to the post. 

Police are also urging people to deter their friends and family from getting behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking.
