‘Not something any farmer needs right now:’ Storm causes Belleville barn to collapse

BELLEVILLE, Wis. — Strong storms overnight caused a barn filled with cattle to collapse overnight.

Owners say wind caused the roof to cave in, trapping the cattle inside.

The owners say multiple steer are dead, but no people were hurt. The collapse still comes at a bad time for the farm, according to co-owner Meagan Christen.

“We’re already affected from the drought, not having rain from the crops,” Christen said. “This is just not something any farmer needs right now.”

Christen says multiple people in the community and neighbors have helped lift the roof and clean up Friday morning.
