Beatrice M. Waters

Beatrice (Hornbeck) Waters passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 after defying Congestive Heart Failure for so many years. She became known as the “Energizer Bunny”. Born August 8, 1929 to Glen F. and Henrietta M. (Stumpf) Hornbeck in Madison WI. She attended Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1947. She married Robert D. (Windy) Waters on October 15, 1949. Together they raised 7 daughters and one son in rural Lodi.
Survivors include her children: Sue Waters, Dan (Butch), Patricia (John) Davis, Kathy Waters, Carole Hollers (Jeff Jasper), Peggy Waters, Jodie (Tom) Davis, Jeanne Waters, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons and 2 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Michael (Pam) Hornbeck, and three sisters-in-law, Pearl Franke, Catherine Waters and Marge Hoppman. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, her parents, her brother and sister in law, Glen Jr. (Nobby) and Beverly Hornbeck.
Bea was employed at the American Exchange Bank and Plywood Madison. However, most people remember Bea as a waitress for many years, at the Bridge Supper Club in Okee. There were many requests for Bea, often times a waiting list. Her humor, friendliness and accommodating service were well worth the wait, and children loved to take home the fuzzy bumble bees from her name tags.
She enjoyed her garden, flowers, baking, cooking and, above all, her sewing and quilting for family and friends. She looked forward to her monthly meetings with her “Lunch Bunch” of high school classmates and Thursday morning coffee with her friends at Cannery Row.
Mom wanted to acknowledge the help, dedication, support and consideration of her special friends Joan, Judy, Patty and Nancy, along with two special relatives, Judy and Paul.
The family would like to thank Dr. Phelan, Dr. Kruse, Dr Ranum, Home Health United staff, Agrace Hospice and Creekwood Assisted Living for their kindness and patience in the care for our mother. Special thanks to “Barbie Doll”, Jennifer (her guardian angel) and Karen for their special care in her final days.
