Beach party in downtown Middleton doubles as Service Appreciation Day

A beach party in downtown Middleton featuring activities and entertainment will double as a Service Appreciation Day honoring Middleton police, EMS and firefighters, according to a release.
The Downtown Middleton Business Association is hosting the fourth annual event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
The event includes a performance from noon to 4 p.m. by Mighty Wheelhouse, an art fair and a beer and wine tent. Children’s activities will include a sand pile treasure hunt, face painting and a balloon man. Horse and wagon rides will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Teams from the Middleton police, EMS and fire departments will compete in a volleyball contest, organizers said. The city will also have a team participating in the contest.
Middleton businesses will also be having sidewalk sales and specials during the event.
Portions of Parmenter Street, Hubbard Avenue, Aurora and Elmwood will be closed for the event.
