Baylor hands UConn women first regular-season loss in 126 games

The 11-time national champion UConn Huskies hadn’t lost in the regular season since 2014, but that changed Thursday night.
Baylor stunned the UConn women’s basketball team 68-57 at home in Waco, Texas, to snap the Huskies’ 126-game regular-season winning streak.
The loss drops top-ranked UConn, which has fallen in overtime in the national semifinals the past two seasons, to 11-1 on the season.
Before those two playoff losses, UConn had won four straight national titles from 2013 through 2016, part of a run that saw them win six out of eight national titles starting in 2009.
The Huskies had last dropped a regular-season game on Nov. 17, 2014, when they lost to Stanford in overtime, according to ESPN. They hadn’t lost a regular-season game in regulation since losing to Baylor on Feb. 18, 2013, the network reported.
The No. 8 Lady Bears improved to 10-1 on the season with the victory.
Baylor senior Kalani Brown the Lady Bears with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while seniors Napheesa Collier (16 points) and Katie Lou Samuelson (12 points) posted their own double-doubles for UConn in the loss.
