Barry J. Cook

Barry J. Cook, 52, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at UW – Hospital, Madison. Funeral services will be at Noon, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Barry J. Cook Memorial Fund. Barry was born on April 23, 1970 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, son of Dariel and Mary (Farnum) Cook. He graduated from Platteville High School Class of 1989. Barry worked in construction for many years in the area and was a “Jack of all trades, master of none” as his family said. He loved the outdoors and spending time hunting, fishing, and searching for morels and wild asparagus.

Barry is survived by his mother, Mary Cook; three children, Jessica (Justin) Orr, Kalie Cook, and Cadin Cook; three grandchildren, Lillie Orr, Violet Kwallek and Ivy Fitzsimons; sister, Penny Sherwin; niece, Chelsey (Shaun Juedes) Sherwin; great-nephew, Mason and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Barry was preceded in death by his father, Dariel, grandparents, Floyd and LaVina Farnum, and Forrest and Martha Cook, many aunts, uncles,cousins and friends.
