Barrett calls on Democrats to unify

Democratic governor candidate Tom Barrett is calling on the Democratic Party to help candidates unify following the May 8 primary.
Barrett on Monday sent a letter to Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate asking him to convene a committee consisting of representatives from each of the four candidates to develop a plan to support whoever wins the primary.
Barrett is calling on all the candidates to back the eventual nominee who advances to take on Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
Barrett said former Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton will be representing his campaign.
Former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Secretary of State Doug La Follette and state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout are also running.
They and the Democratic Party spokesman had no immediate reaction to the request.
