Baraboo men charged with stealing puppy

Two Baraboo men are accused of stealing a woman’s puppy after a fight Friday morning, according to a news release.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department said a deputy responded at about 11:45 a.m. to a report of a physical dispute in the town of Marion.

Police said 21-year-old Joel Salazar got into an argument with an 18-year-old woman of rural Boscobel over their son. Joel pushed the woman and her 20-year-old roommate. Salazar and Fernando Sandoval, 20, also of Baraboo, took the woman’s puppy.

Baraboo police found Salazar and Sandoval, along with the puppy, which was unharmed and returned to its owner, the report said.

Salazar is facing charges of two counts of disorderly conduct and felony theft of a domestic animal. Sandoval is facing a felony charge of theft of a domestic animal.
