Badgers QB Leads Way To Pasadena

Russell Wilson was still at North Carolina State last year when the University of Wisconsin Badgers returned to the Rose Bowl for the first time in a decade last January.

So, going out to Pasadena this year has special meaning for the Badgers senior quarterback.

He said he isn’t expecting to have any problems adjusting to the whole thing, but he has heard plenty from his teammates how last year’s 21-19 loss against Texas Christian turned out.

“When they talk about the Rose Bowl last year, they are upset about not finishing the game and they had opportunities to win and they just didn’t capitalize,” said Wilson. “In big-time games, whenever you are playing in the big time game, the team that wins is the team that makes the least amount of mistakes and capitalizes on the opportunities and the game altering plays.”

Wilson said they’re preparing for the game.

“That is not something they necessarily did all the time last year,” he said. “That is something we have been doing extremely well this year and we really have to focus on through the game and play great football.”

The Badgers play the Oregon Ducks on Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. (CST) in Pasadena.
