Badgers linebacker Nick Herbig declares for NFL Draft

MADISON, Wis. — Badgers linebacker Nick Herbig is taking his talents to the next level.
The junior from Hawaii announced Saturday that he will declare for the NFL Draft. Herbig played 31 games over three seasons for Wisconsin.
“Thank you for accepting a young kid from over 4,000 miles away in Kauai and making my family and I feel at home for the past three years,” Herbig said in a Twitter post. “Badger Nation, you are the best fans in the country!”

Herbig tallied 137 tackles as a Badger, including 97 solo tackles. He also posted 36 tackles for loss and 21 sacks. He forced 4 fumbles, recovering 2. Last week he was named first-team All-Big Ten alongside teammate John Torchio.

Wisconsin has a long history of linebackers in the NFL Draft, including Pro Bowlers Joe Schobert and TJ Watt. Most recently, Leo Chenal was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
