Badgers honor former player, UVA shooting victim Devin Chandler with helmet decal

LINCOLN, Neb. — When the Badgers take the field on Saturday they’ll be doing so with more than just football on their minds, and more than just a ‘W’ on their helmets.

The team announced that a ‘DC’ decal would be added to the back of players’ helmets in honor of former Badger Devin Chandler. Chandler was one of three football players fatally shot on the campus of the University of Virginia this past week.

Chandler spent two seasons with the Badgers before transferring to Virginia last year. Virginia defensive end D’Sean Perry and wide receiver Lavel Davis Jr. were identified as the two other people killed in the shooting.

The suspect in the shooting, former UVA football player Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., was arrested Monday. Virginia canceled their game, previously scheduled for Saturday, in the wake of the shooting.

Wisconsin will visit Nebraska on Saturday. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. CT.
