Badgers hockey coach hosts fishing event to raise money for kids battling cancer
MADISON, Wis. — Casting for Kids hosted its third annual event Saturday to help raise money for children fighting cancer.
The event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. But now, organizers and participants are returning to Madison Lakes to go fishing for a cause.
Mark Osiecki, associate head coach for UW-Madison’s men’s hockey team, is the organizer of the event.
Fishing guides and celebrities took part fishing in a catch-and-release tournament to raise money for kids at the American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Carbone Cancer Center.
Casting for Kids raised more than $160,000 in its first two years.
The day began with an award ceremony and happy hour at the Green Lantern Restaurant and Bar. It also usually includes a fundraising dinner and both silent and live auctions.
All proceeds will be donated to the American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Carbone Cancer Center.
