Badgers, Flamingos play to draw in Battle for Madison
MADISON, Wis. — For the second year in a row, the Battle for Madison ended in a 1-1 draw.
Forward Madison FC and the Badger men’s soccer team renewed their friendly rivalry on Saturday at Breese Stevens Field. The Badgers got on the board first, thanks to a 42nd-minute strike from Jack Finnegan.
The Flamingos responded quickly after halftime when Abdou Mbacke Thiam slammed a shot home in the 50th minute. The game brought soccer fans from across Madison together.
“It’s a good event for soccer in Madison,” FMFC CEO Conor Caloia said. “It’s great to have these two teams play every year at Breese Stevens Field.”
Saturday’s game was the fourth annual Battle for Madison.
