For the first time in four years, the Wisconsin football team will have a starting quarterback other than Joel Stave.

Senior Bart Houston is the presumptive starter for the Badgers. He’s been called on for fill-in duty the past couple of seasons, but the full-time job appears to be his to lose.

“It’s just trying to be better each and every day. Whether it’s drawing stuff up on the white board or getting the throws with the receivers,” Houston said. “We’ve made some strides, especially with the younger guys, young bucks. I’m excited to watch them and see how they grow.”

The Badgers open the season Sept. 3 against LSU at Lambeau Field at 2:30 p.m.
