Badgers Add Sam Dekker For 2012

Forward Sam Dekker has signed to play basketball at Wisconsin in 2012.

Dekker, a 6-foot 8-inch, 215-pound forward from Lutheran High School in Sheboygan, averaged 28.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game as a junior last season.

Badgers coach Bo Ryan said Dekker has “first-class intangibles” and can play several different positions.

Ryan said Dekker could have gone to just about any school after becoming “the talk of the country this past July” during national Amateur Athletic Union events — tournaments for club teams held outside of high school competition. But Ryan said Dekker wanted to be at Wisconsin rather than look elsewhere.

Dekker heads into his senior season as the No. 18-ranked player in the nation, according to Rivals.com.
