Back-to-School Drive: Where do monetary donations go?
MADISON – If you don’t have time to go shopping for supplies and drop them off for this year’s back-to-school drive, you have another option to give back.
Besides the items needed by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County, monetary donations help them give students flexibility when it comes to purchasing what they need for the school year, through the form of gift cards.
That’s especially the case for college students when it comes to buying specific textbooks for a class, or something special for their dorm room. These students have been with the Boys and Girls Club for at least several years, so organizers said the support they provide really means a lot for students that have now graduated and are headed to college.
“They have been Boys and Girls Club members at least through their high school experience and now through their college experience,” asst. vice president of education, Shona Mitteldorf, said. “They know that we’re an area of support for them and so they really count on us to help them succeed through college. So when we can provide them with supplies, it really helps them out.”
If you don’t want to donate money, you can also drop items off at several locations, or through the Boys and Girls Clubs Amazon wishlist. For a full list of donation drop-off locations and what donations are needed, click or tap here.
