Authorities investigating 70 leads, have received well over 200 in hunt for Janesville man

Sheriff believes man is still in area

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Authorities continue investigating nearly 70 leads in the search for a wanted Janesville man who they say sent a 161-page manifesto to President Donald Trump and made threats toward politicians and schools.

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden told News 3 Saturday morning that numerous law enforcement agencies are exploring well over 200 leads they’ve received in the search for 32-year-old Joseph Jakubowski, who is also wanted in connection to a gun store burglary and a burned vehicle in Janesville on Tuesday .

Also Saturday, police released new a surveillance photo showing Jakubowski at a Mobil gas station in Janesville Tuesday afternoon, hours before the burglary.

The FBI is bringing in additional resources from Minneapolis and Chicago to aid in the search. Officials from Janesville police, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and ATF are among those searching for Jakubowski. In total, 175 law enforcement officials are involved in the search.

Earlier Friday afternoon, a SWAT team entered an abandoned home on Eisenhower Avenue near where Jakubowski lived, believing him to be inside . Authorities did not find any signs of him in the home, Spoden said.

Spoden said officials believe Jakubowski is still in the area and is trying to wait out law enforcement.

In a video released Friday by law enforcement , a person investigators believe is Jakubowski drops the manifesto, addressed to the White House, in a mailbox, saying, “Game time.”

The FBI is offering a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to Jakubowski’s arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
