Authorities Identify Woman Killed In Highway 14 Crash

A 37-year-old Arena woman has been identified as the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 14 in the Town of Middleton on Thursday afternoon.

A 14-month child suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Dane County Sheriff’s officials said that Middleton firefighters, EMS workers, and a Med Flight helicopter were called to an area just west of Twin Valley Road at about 2:44 p.m.

Authorities said that a 1999 Ford Taurus, driven by Shelly A. Dorman, was headed eastbound on the highway when the driver apparently lost control and the vehicle rolled over. Dorman wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 14-month-old girl was a passenger in the vehicle and was secured in a child restraint seat, according to the sheriff’s office. The child was taken by Med Flight to University of Wisconsin Hospital.

Highway 14 was closed for about two-and-a-half hours as sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders investigated the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office said that the crash is still under investigation.
