At least 2 dead, 70 injured in early morning Amtrak crash

At least two people are dead and another 70 injured after an Amtrak passenger train collided with a CSX freight train in South Carolina.
Amtrak said the train was traveling from New York to Miami when it hit a freight train just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Amtrak released an initial statement and explained, “The lead engine derailed, as well as some passenger cars. There were 8 crew members and approximately 139 passenger, with injuries reported. Local authorities are on the scene responding.”
CSX said in a statement, “An emergency response plan has been activated to provide support. Lexington County authorities have been notified and are responding to the incident. Additional information will be made available as details of the incident are confirmed.”
Eight crew members and 139 passengers were on board.
