2 ejected from motorcycle, killed following crash on WIS 104

MAGNOLIA, Wis. — Two people are dead following a vehicle crash on Highway 104 in Rock County that closed all lanes of traffic, according to a news release Tuesday.

Officials with Green and Rock counties were sent to Highway 104 and Dunphy Road in the town of Magnolia shortly before 4:10 p.m. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office later became the leading agency for the crash.

Officials determined there was a driver in a pickup truck who tried making a left turn while on the highway.

The release said a motorcycle driven by a 67-year-old Janesville man was going in the same direction. A 57-year-old Beloit woman was also a passenger on the motorcycle.

As the truck began to turn, officials said the motorcycle crashed into the back of the truck. Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Officials said neither of the two victims were wearing helmets.

The pickup tuck driver did not suffer any injuries. The release said no law enforcement action has been taken.

According to a state Department of Transportation traffic alert, all lanes of the roadway were blocked in both directions for nearly four hours. All lanes have since reopened as of 8:17 p.m.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
