Arthur H. Mittenzwei

Arthur H. Mittenzwei, age 87, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Stevens Point, while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services. He was born in Medford on March 27, 1925, the son of the late Hartman and Meta (Viergutz) Mittenzwei. Art was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge (106th Divisioin), and received the Purple Heart. He married the former Ottilia L. Kapfhamer on Medford on June 28, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2010.

He is survived by four daughters, Karen (Bruce) Poffinbarger of Stevens Point, Jayne (Donald) Couillard of Marshall, Elaine Harvey of Sauk City and Betty (Joseph) Neiderklopfer of Lyndon Station; two sons, Michael (Linda) Mittenzwei of Prairie du Sac and Patrick (Martha) Mittenzwei of Mazomanie; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Robert (Janice) Mittenzwei of Medford; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Ruhamah Harvey and a sister, Marie Purdy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 and also on Friday from 10:15am until 11:15am at the funeral home. Burial, with military rites conducted by Lachmund-Cramer V.F.W. Post 7694, will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
