Armed robbers break into car, steal from apartment during alleged “targeted” attack in Fitchburg

Fitchburg Police are searching for two or three men wanted for an armed robbery overnight.

Officers were originally called to the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail around 11 p.m. Friday for a report of shots fired. After investigating, they found the sounds that were reported didn’t come from gunfire, but came from several people breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot, and later, the apartment associated with that car.

Police believe the suspects were armed with handguns and a shotgun and stole items from the apartment before running away.

One of the suspects is described as a light-skinned black man, approximately 25-30 years old, 5’6″ to 5’7″ tall with a medium build, wearing a white tee shirt and had short hair. The other suspect is described as a black man, approximately 20-25 years old, around 6’1″, with a heavy build, and wearing red clothing. There is no description available for the third suspect.

Officers are still looking for the men this morning and are calling this a “targeted attack.” No one was injured. They add there is no reason to believe the public is in danger.
