Arlene L. Scott

Arlene L. Scott, 92, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died, Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the Platteville Hospital.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. at Melby Funeral Home and Crematory, June 30, 2017, in Platteville, WI. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Melby Funeral Home in Platteville, WI where wake services will be held. Friends may also call from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 before the service.

An Arlene L. Scott Memorial Fund has been established to give to her favorite charities.

Arlene was born on August 4, 1924, in Butternut, WI, the daughter of Vergel and Nora (Austin) Willis. She married Harlo Scott on January 14, 1950, at the Congregational Church in Platteville. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2009. Arlene graduated from LaCrosse University and UW Platteville. She taught Physical Education at Iowa Grant, Belmont and Fennimore Grade school and a well respected coach. Arlene was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader. She attended many of her grandchildren’s activities. Arlene was a proud member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, feeding her birds, and watching the wild life around her home. In addition, Arlene was a great cook too.

Survivors include Lynn (Mike Meyer) Scott of Milwaukee, Marcia Scott of Platteville, Ronna (Jeff Zechlin) Scott of Brier, WA, Jeff (Deb Bradley) Scott of Platteville, Jill (Rocky) Hinderman-Skemp of Platteville, Harlo”Chip” (Val Cook) Scott of Fennimore and Megan (Marty Boehme)Scott of Wauwatosa; one brother Arnold (Beth)Willis of Madison; Grandchildren- Christopher (Stephanie) Hinderman of Platteville;(Great Grandchildren- Gunner and Gemma Hinderman), Amanda (Richard) Salinas of Virginia Beach, VA; (Great Grandchild- Graham Salinas), Alicia Skemp and Adrianna Skemp of San Diego, CA, Leah Scott Zechlin of Berlin, Germany and Arianna Zechlin of Brier, WA. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dale Hinderman; a sister Virginia (Hank) Long; a brother, William (Kate) Willis.
