Apartment fire causes estimated $35K in damage
Three other units in building not damaged, officials say

MADISON, Wis. — A fire in a four-unit apartment building caused an estimated $35,000 in damage to one unit, but the other three unites were not damaged, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 5000 block of Camden Road around 1:45 p.m. Thursday after a resident in the apartment building saw smoke coming from a first floor apartment, according to a release.
Heavy black smoke was coming from the front window of the apartment when crews arrived, and firefighters had the fire out a couple minutes later, officials said.
The fire was contained to the room it started in, and there was smoke and heat damage to the front room of the apartment, according to the release. Residents of the apartment were not home when the fire started.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
