Annabelle Lucille Ohlert Brunton

Annabelle Lucille (Ohlert) Brunton, age 98, went to heaven to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2022, surrounded by family at Kelly House in Evansville, WI. Annabelle was born in her grandparents’ house on Madison Street in Lancaster, WI on August 23, 1924. She was the oldest daughter of Casper and Ada (Brogley) Ohlert. She lived most of her life in Grant County, WI. After graduating from Platteville High School in 1942, she temporarily lived in Rockford, IL to work in a defense factory to support the war effort. She also attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

Annabelle married Raymond Brunton on February 26, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Lancaster. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2001. Annabelle worked for many companies in the area throughout her career. She retired from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1988, after working for 18 years as the administrative assistant in the Facility Management Building.

Annabelle was a member of Calvary Community Church in Lancaster. She taught Sunday School for more than 20 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Platteville. She moved to Evansville in 2014 to be closer to family. She had an interest in art and was accomplished at rosemaling. Annabelle had a love for chocolate and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a Rolo or a hot fudge sundae.

Annabelle is survived by her sister, Madge Noyes; special niece and nephews Tim (Tom Gull) Flesch, Kathy (Rick) McCoy, Mike (Jeanne) Flesch, Ed (Stacey) Flesch; cherished great-nieces Elizabeth and Emily; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, John Casper; siblings Joyce (Roland) Mook, Fay Ohlert, and Josephine (Francis) Flesch; brother-in-law Kenneth Noyes; great-niece Katelyn McCoy; and special friend Barbara Johns, who took her on many adventures.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Jerry Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, Wisconin. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
