Anna S. Hanson

Anna S. Hanson, age 104, of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Skaalen Nursing Home. She was born on Feb. 10, 1918, in Cooksville, Wis., the daughter of Andrew and Lena (Jerdee) Nelson. Anna attended Evansville High School. She married Robert W. Hanson on Feb. 18, 1939.

Anna loved to serve others through caretaking of the young and the elderly, retelling stories to her grandchildren, sewing patchwork squares into quilts for needy families, mending clothes, tending to her violets, planting orphan seeds into her flower gardens, baking and making meals for her family, church members, and any guest who visited. Anna was a member of Cooksville Lutheran Church and volunteered at Skaalen Nursing Home for many years. For more fun, Anna enjoyed playing cards, piecing puzzles together, and winning Bingo games.

Anna is survived by her son, Lowell (Patricia) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Renee Hanson; four granddaughters, Terri (Mike) Carnell, Melissa (Geoff) Whitaker, Naomi (John) Seid, and Angela (Jeremy) Mills; two grandsons, Todd (Jennifer) Hanson and David (Stacy) Hanson; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lena Nelson; husband, Robert W. Hanson; son, Robert W. Hanson, Jr.; brothers, William, Obert and Thomas; and sisters, Gertrude Heffel and Josephine Furseth.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, Wis., at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
