Alvin G. Bateman

Alvin G. Bateman, age 73, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center, Janesville. He was born in LaCrosse on Jan. 22, 1943, the son of George and Pearl (Stenstra) Bateman. He served in the U.S. Navy and married Lucille Symicek in LaCrosse on Oct. 31, 1964. She preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 2014. Alvin had been employed by Beloit Corp, and was a member of St. William Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman.
Alvin is survived by his daughter, Sharon (David) Bobeck of Madison and Barbara (Michael) Wright of Orlando, FL; 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Andrew and Alexandra; 2 great grandsons, Carson and Kayson Bobeck; sister, Judy Muenzenberger of Onalaska; many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Alvin Bateman, Jr.; grandson, Joshua Bateman; and 2 sisters, Janet and Jeanette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Brian Dulli officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
